I got vista installed and even got some of Office XP installed before this wierd problem started happening. Here is hte event log:
- <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> - <System> <Provider Name="PlugPlayManager" /> <EventID Qualifiers="49152">12</EventID> <Level>2</Level> <Task>0</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2006-06-09T05:56:09.000Z" /> <EventRecordID>6591</EventRecordID> <Channel>System</Channel> <Computer>AGLAPTOP</Computer> <Security /> </System> - <EventData> <Data>_NEC DVD+-RW ND-6500A ATA Device</Data> <Data>IDE\CdRom_NEC_DVD+-RW_ND-6500A___________________2.81____\5&1c994b69&0&0.1.0</Data> <Binary>00000000</Binary> </EventData> </Event>
Basically the Plug & Play Manager is shutting down my DVD/CD Rom and I have no idea why. I can't install any other software now. Anyone have any idea what's happening? I am running Vista Beta 2 clean install, but on a second partition.

PlugPlayManager Problem
Have you tried uninstalling the device from Device Manager, restart the system to see if it redetects it? In the mean time, I would suggest reporting the issue: For Feedback: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=55160
